Sheets/ Plates

This area covers the production of hot-rolled and cold-rolled sheet metal, strips and discs made of copper and copper alloys. Production focuses particularly on the variety of alloys, as well as on the unrivalled range of dimensions offered. We produce sheet metal, strip and discs in thicknesses of from 0.50 to 4.00 mm from metal strip with the same variety of alloys and range thicknesses. These outstanding technical prerequisites put us in a position to offer our products worldwide, to the widest variety of industries for diverse applications. Some examples of these various fields of use:
- apparatus engineering (heat exchangers, receptacles)
- plant construction (seawater desalination plants)
- electrical engineering (conductor rails)
- smelting and casting technology (mould plates, staves, support arms)
- printing technology (engraving plates)
- mould-making
- cladding material

Quality
Our decades-long experience in the manufacture of sheet metal and plate, our highly modern testing technology and our qualified personnel effectively guarantee the highest quality. This is verified for MKM's quality management system, which is certified on the basis of DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 by Lloyd´s Register of Quality Assurance, by the German technical supervisory authority (TÜV) licensing in accordance with the AD leaflet W0/TRD 100, and by the licensing in keeping with EC printing equipment regulations as conducted by Germanischer Lloyd. non-destructive materials checks - ultrasound testing of sheet metal and plate with a thickness of between 10 mm and 150 mm - dye penetration testing - mechanical materials testing - tension testing in steps of from 2 N to 1,000 kN - determination of the tensile strength Rm and various stretch limits Rp0.2; Rp1.0 - determination of ultimate strain and break constriction - hardness testing following Brinell, Vickers and Rockwell - spring-bending limits in hard-spring condition of from 0.05 to 1 mm thickness - earing tests by means of cupping for material thicknesses to 5 mm - cupping in accordance with Erichsen - metallography bending samples - determination of average grain size and structural constituents - determination of foreign-material inclusions - micro-section and macro-section polishing and corrosion for determination of rigidity behaviour - participation in cause-tracing research and metal-physics product development - scanning electron microscopy for direct imaging of surfaces, e.g. imaging of structures and fractures - energy dispersive element analysis by means of EDX analyser, e.g. element identification of inclusions in semi-finished products and of altered object areas on the surfaces of semi-finished products - X-ray microanalysis (micro-probe) - microanalyses (line scans, mappings, point-analyses) - layer-thickness tests in the chemical laboratory - control of the chemical composition of raw materials, preliminary products and finished products - special analytic processes on finished products - development of analytic processes - process control - conception and implementation of surveillance work in connection with technological processes (annealing, pickling, degreasing).
